Funeral Services for 76 year old Fred J. Montgomery of Cadiz will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at King’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Canon, Rev. Damian Phillips and Rev. Tony Evans officiating. Burial followed in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation was 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Canton Baptist Church and from 6:00 a.m. until the service hour at 11:00 on Monday at King’s Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Myra Montgomery, Cadiz, Kentucky; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sherri Montgomery, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; daughters and sons-in-law, Greg and Kelly Stanhope, Florence, Alabama, Lisa Boren, Cadiz, Kentucky and Troy and LeAnn Adcock, West Chester, Ohio; sisters and brother-in-law, James and Judy Haddock, Florence, Alabama and Patricia Hagan, Lancaster, Kentucky, eight grandchildren, Mallory Stanhope, Hunt Stanhope, Megan and Jared White, Kayla Danielle Boren, Julie and Michael Meade, Peyton Adcock, Caleb Adcock and Max and Jessica Ward; four great grandchildren, Audrey Elizabeth White, Jonas Alexander White, Isabella Ward and Hayden Robbins.
He was born in Syracuse, New York on July 7, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents Niles and Wilhelmina Webber Montgomery; a daughter; Amy Michelle Montgomery; grandson, Alex Ward; sister, Flora Gehrig; two brothers, William and Alan Montgomery.
Fred J. Montgomery died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Montgomery was a member of Canton Baptist Church where he served as sound director.
He was a Retired Electrical Contractor and Former Owner of Holland Electric Co. in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He graduated from Central High School in Florence, Alabama in 1956 and attended Florence State University. A
US Army Veteran. He served his Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Military Patrol School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He sang Base in the Singing Witnesses Quartet.
