Funeral service for Franklin Maurice Shirley, age 75, of Decatur, will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sammy Evans and Bro. TSgt. Franklin Maurice Shirley went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 2, 2026. “Frank” was born at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL on May 22, 1951. He was a twenty-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel Shirley and Ruby Alexander Shirley; his brother, Murphy Alexander; and his sister, Coney Finger.
He is survived by three daughters, Jeannie Dutton (Kevin) and Laura Adcock, both of Panama City, FL, and Jill Arthur (Britt) of Goshen, AL; one brother, Bill Fulmer of Decatur, AL; and two sisters, Joanne Evans (Sammy) and Karen Jackson (Kurt), both of Hartselle, AL; his former wife, Marsha Thompson, who was a caring and devoted presence in his life, and lovingly cared for him until his passing; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Dad loved his family, his country, and Alabama football. Roll Tide!
Pallbearers will be Alex Adcock, Tommy Adcock, Colby Dutton, Jimmy Evans, Kris Jackson, and John Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Finger, Anthony Blackwood, and Allen Hamman.
