Funeral service for Franklin Delano Turney, 91, will be Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Geoff Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Center Springs Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Turney passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.  He was born July 27, 1934, in Morgan County,  to Wesley Mason Turney and Bernice Lemmond Turney, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Turney was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, and was a United Methodist Pastor. He was also a Lt. Col. Chaplain and a Veteran of the United States Army,  and the Alabama National Guard. He retired from this ministry after 34 years of service but continued his ministry for a total of 40 years in the United Methodist faith.

He attended Athens State College and Candler’s School of Theology at Emory University. He was a very kind-hearted person who loved to work on vehicles, anything mechanical,  and old cars were his favorite hobby.  After his retirement, he worked as a welder at G.E. in Decatur. He just enjoyed working with his hands.

Survivors include

Son – Dale Edwin Turney,

Daughters – Bonita Cheryl Nolen (Dr. Charles W. Nolen), and
Donnis Lynn Toland (David),

Brother – Dr. Shannon W. Turney (Peggy),

Sister – Lucille “Joy” Rowan,

Five Grandchildren,

Three Great Grandchildren,

Close Friend – Maybelle Oden,

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
