FRANKLIN COUNTY-On 12April 2026, deputies were alerted to a possible child sexual abuse in the Tharptown community.
The victim is 6 years old and disclosed that a family friend, Abigail Roberts, had touched her inappropriately. The sheriff’s

office was notified and interviewed Abigail Roberts. Roberts admitted to the sexual abuse and admitted to having images and videos of the abuse on her phone.
After a search warrant was obtained, investigators discovered 30 images of Child Pornography. Roberts had sent the 30 images to another person.
Roberts is charged with:
11 counts of Sexual abuse of a Child less than 12
3 counts of Sodomy
Enticing a Child to enter a room for Immoral Purposes
30 counts of Dissemination of Child Pornography
30 counts of Possession of Child Pornography
30 counts of Production of Child Pornography
Directing a Child to engage in a Sexual Act.
The case is still actively being investigated, and additional charges may be added.
Roberts is scheduled for her first court appearance later this week.
