FrankieFrankie Briggs, age 65, of Adamsville, TN departed this life on Monday, February 17, 2014 at his home with his family. Frankie was born on March 31, 1948 in Corinth, MS. He is the son of the late George Clayton and Christine Jones Briggs. Frankie was raised in the Gift Community until he moved to Savannah, TN when he was in the 8th grade. He graduated from Central High School in Savannah, TN in 1966. Frankie was united in marriage to Trish Austin Briggs on September 10, 1966, who survives. Frankie Proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1969-1973. He was stationed in Key West, FL and San Diego, CA. In his younger years, Frankie was an active member of the Savannah Jaycees and enjoyed playing golf. Frankie worked in the family business, Briggs Wholesale, for many years. He opened the first computer store in Savannah, Computer Corner, in 1988. He also worked as a computer programmer for Aqua Glass until he became disabled in 2001. Frankie was a music enthusiast. He enjoyed playing the bass guitar, keyboard, harmonica, and listening to all genres of music. He was the bass player for the band “The New Hope Music Project”. They recorded a one song album at Savannah Sound in 1981 with the song “Love in Disguise (Space Love)”. Along with Frankie’s love of music, he also enjoyed writing music, playing poker, riding his motorcycle, water skiing and traveling. Frankie’s greatest joy came from playing with his grandchildren. Frankie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Trish Austin Briggs. One daughter Rachel Briggs Holt and husband Dwayne of Adamsville TN and one son, Adam Briggs and wife Shay of Morris Chapel, TN. 7 Grandchildren: Mallory, Austin, Payton, and Torrie Holt of Adamsville; Julia Briggs of Morris Chapel, TN; Matt and Sam Ballard of Lexington, TN. 1 great grandchild, Jenna Ballard, of Lexington, TN. One sister, Juanita Scott and husband Leonard of Savannah, TN and one brother, Otis Briggs and wife Mary of Columbus, MS. An abundance of nieces, nephews and close friends. Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, George Clayton and Christine Jones Briggs. Paternal grandparents Edgar and Icie Rainey Briggs and Maternal grandparents James II and Emma Felker Jones. 2 nephews, Jeff Briggs and Otis Gerrell Briggs, Jr. and one niece Chris Briggs. Per Frankie’s request he will be cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life and Remembrance on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at East End Methodist Church Activities Center in Savannah, TN. From 4-8pm with a brief service at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, Frankie requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Lebonheur Children’s Hospital.
