COLBERT COUNTY – A campaign statement from Colbert County Sheriff, Frank Williamson.“I am running on my record of the last 71/2 years. They have been good years. We have saved a lot of money for the County Commission and spent your tax money wisely. I am proud of the many positive changes for the Sheriffs Office. I have tried to make it clear that I don’t argue with people on Facebook, but instead am dedicated to the principle of always conducting myself professionally. It is a guidepost that I have lived my life by, and see no reason to abandon it now.
We now have a dive team that the County never had before. I have tried the last three years to get a patrol boat but have been turned down by the commission because we needed cars. They could not supply both. We are still working on it. At present, we depend on the State’s Marine Patrol. They help out tremendously and even buy vehicles for our deputies.
In the last 7 years we have made many positive changes within the Colbert County Sheriffs Office. We have upgraded to computer systems that make us more efficient. We’ve fought hard and have been successful in our fight against drug activity by adding two dog handlers and two drug agents in Colbert County Drug Task Force. We have better equipment across the board from cars, to weapons, to computers. We have installed computers in each patrol car to make the deputies more proficient and save money in time. We have joined the State Task Force to catch and prosecute sexual predators. We now have a trained Emergency Response Team. We have come under budget every year, saving the Tax Payer thousands of dollars. Our Deputies have new uniforms.
These are just some of the changes that have been made. But for the sake of a long read I will add more later. We at the Sheriff’s Office strive to give you a Sheriffs Office that you, the Citizens of Colbert County can be proud of. And that you can trust to serve and protect and do the right thing.
