The Man, the Myth, the Legend. Frank Gates Roberts Jr. “Dude” 1927- 2017, World War II veteran, master of telling tales and the joy of play.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Roberts; daughter, Marchetta Roberts Johnson; son, Frank Gates Roberts III; three grandchildren, Hunter Johnson, Judith Roberts Park and Sam Gates Roberts; three great-grandchildren, Maren Johnson, Crosby Park, Henry Roberts; and many nieces and nephews. Dude is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Gates Roberts Sr. and Linda Grissom Roberts; grandchild, Matthew Gates Johnson; three brothers, Doyle Roberts, Paul Roberts and James Roberts.

Dude served in the Navy. He was co-owner of Busy Bee Supermarkets with his brothers.

You loved us and made us laugh. They coined the phrase “one of a kind” just for you. We miss you Dad, and will try to pass along your humor and joyful play to those who won’t have the chance to know you.
