Frank Edward Harscheid

Frank Edward Harscheid passed away on February 21st, 2025. A graveside service at the Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, February 26th. The Rev. Danielle Thompson will be officiating.

Frank was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and attended Springfield Technical High School. He entered the U.S. Army, served as a military policeman, and participated in nuclear tests at Enewetak and Bikini atolls.

He was a 1963 graduate of Florence State College and a 1965 graduate of the University of Florida. He also completed PhD coursework at The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Frank taught at the University of Alabama Huntsville and over thirty years at the University of North Alabama, where he enjoyed teaching literature.

Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Myra Ellis Harscheid, and his brother, Eric Harscheid. Frank is survived by his daughter, Holly Harscheid Walker (Jim), of Florence, Alabama; son, Roy Glenn Harscheid (Jennifer), of Florence, Alabama; Grandchildren: Meghan Walker, James Houston Walker, Landon Harscheid, and Finley Harscheid; brother, David Harscheid (Ursula), of Wendell, North Carolina, and niece Karla Harscheid.

The family would like to thank Aveanna Hospice and Nurse Jennifer Alston for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
