Frances George Pounders Pate – Obituary

Frances George Pounders Pate, of Barton, entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 25, 2018 at the age of 85. Her visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with David Conley and Wayne Green officiating. She will be buried in Barton Cemetery.

Frances was a resident of Barton all of her life and was a lifelong member of Barton Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was president of the Rose Trail Homemakers Club for years. Her enjoyment in life was her family and being in her yard caring for her flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Pounders; parents, D.K. George and Sarah Anna Moody George; brothers, Wilmer, Allen, and John George; and sisters, Martha Ida Patrick and Odell Patrick.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Pounders Jones (Randall “Randy”) and Patti Pounders Lambert (Charles “Bubba”); grandchildren, Erica Jones Hogeland and Chase Lambert; and great-grandchildren, Claire Hogeland and Gunner Hogeland.

Serving as pallbearers: Chase Lambert, Terry Cosby, David Patrick, Steve Williams, Chris Hogeland and Doug Sullivan.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the caregivers at Cottage of the Shoals and Hospice of North Alabama for their loving care of our mother.

Her favorite verse was Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
