Frances Elizabeth Cowan Pistole, age 86 of Shelbyville, formerly of Franklin County, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 12, 2022. Frances was born on May 31, 1936, in Madison, now known as Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Benjamin “B.A.” and Helen (Hall) Cowan. Frances was a devoted homemaker, who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking wonderful meals. In her spare time, you could find her sitting on the sofa watching her favorite shows, which included, Matlock, Murder She Wrote, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons and most recently Law and Order and Heartland. Frances was a faithful member of the Winchester Church of Christ in her younger years and currently County Line Church of Christ. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a humble, kind and very forgiving woman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar “Red” Pistole; daughter, Elizabeth Faye Pistole; and great-granddaughter, Myla Sophia Jade George Russell. Frances is survived by her loving daughter, Sharon Shepler (William) Russell; son, Leon Pistole; grandchildren, Jared (Carol) Shepler, Shannon Waller, Jeremy (Jessica) Russell, Tabitha (Kozhi) Makai, and Veronica Vogelsong; great-grandchildren, Avah Waller, Shayn Hack, Bentley Russell, Brylee Russell and Kalwizhi Alexander Grant Makai; siblings, Faye (Irvie) Loudermilk, Ray Cowan, Dianne (Michael) Bush, Gayle (Les) Nicaise; and many close nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm and Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 1:00pm -4:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
