Mrs. Frances Anne Tuten Hodges, 86, of Sheffield, passed away at her home surrounded by love on Friday, January 31, 2014. She was born on September 9, 1927 in Athens, Alabama. Her family will receive friends for visitation at Colbert Memorial Chapel on Sunday, February 2, from 5-8pm. The funeral service will begin at 2pm in the funeral home chapel with Jim Story officiating. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Frances grew up in Athens, Al., but lived and worked in Sheffield for the past 60 years. Frances worked at EMCO (Sheffield Union Carbide), where she met her future husband, Charles (Sunshine) Hodges. Charles and Frances married in 1948 and had a loving relationship for 51 years, before his death in 2000. Frances was a homemaker and also a church secretary for Grace Episcopal Church.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Hodges, mother and father Mr. and Mrs. Ed Tuten; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Hodges; numerous aunts and uncles; and brother-in-law Warren Clark.
She is survived by her loving son, Charles E. (Skip) Hodges; sister-in-law, Helen Clark; niece Helen Smith and nephew Charles B. Clark.
Frances was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Florence Al.
Pall Bearers, Stuart Sockwell, Chuck Tash, Eddie Young, Joe Quillen, Pat Stegall, and Charles B. Clark.
Honorary Pallbearers: Homer E. Rutledge and David Johnson.
