FLORENCE-On February 3, 2024, at approximately 3 PM, officers observed a stolen Kia Sportage
crossing O’Neal Bridge into Florence. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Nashville.
The vehicle turned East on Veterans Drive. Officers attempted to stop the Kia, and the driver
disobeyed orders, starting the pursuit. The vehicle continued Eastbound and then made several
turns on side streets. The vehicle reached speeds of close to 100 mph. The vehicle wrecked
around Leland Drive, and the three occupants ran on foot.
Officers were able to locate the occupants, Keimari Clardy, 18 years of age from Florence, and two juveniles. All three
individuals were taken into custody. Keimari Clardy was charged with Receiving Stolen
Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement Officer
and Possession of Marijuana 2nd.
Both juveniles were charged with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer. Both juveniles were taken to the North Alabama Juvenile Detention Center.
During the foot pursuit, an officer’s vehicle, which was left unattended, caught on fire
and burned. No foul play is suspected.
Keimari Clardy is being held on a $33,500.00 bond for this incident and given no bond
due to another arrest by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office.
Keimari Clardy and the two juveniles are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
