Mr. Foy Wallace Curry, age 92, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed on December 5, 2024, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL, surrounded by his family.
Foy was born on February 15, 1932, in Millport, AL, to the late Golden and Ruby Curry. He attended Lamar County High School where he graduated in 1950. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy until 1954, and then married his sweetheart, Peggy Brock, in 1956. They were married 68 wonderful years and raised two daughters.
Foy was a faithful member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ where he served as an elder for 50 years. Foy owned or co-owned Vernon Truck Center, Truck and Trailer Parts and Repairs, and Tuscaloosa Truck. After over 50 years in the trucking business, he retired in 2005 and had time to enjoy his favorite pastimes of gardening and tending to his property.
Foy was preceded in death by his parents, Golden and Ruby Curry, four sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 7, at 11:00 AM, at Christian Chapel Church of Christ, with Travis Brown and Greg Littleton officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be at the church, 10:00-11:00, prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Dale McGee, Tony Robertson, Mike Glasgow, Larry McLemore, Jim McLemore, Tommy Shaw, Jerry Sparks, Ty Sweeney, and Michael Arnhold.
Foy is survived by his wife, Peggy Curry, of Millport, AL; two daughters, Leigh Ann (Brett) Andrews of McCalla, AL and Julie (Greg) Littleton of Winter Haven, FL; his nephew who was like a son, Terry (Susan) Jones of Vernon, AL; two granddaughters, Currie Ann (Ty) Sweeney and Anna Beth (Michael) Arnhold, both of Knoxville, TN; and three sisters, Lavola Rector, Elaine McDaniel, and Sharron Davis.
