FLORENCE – It has been a long time in the making. The historic site of Fort Willingham, built in 1935 by the Works-Progress Administration, stood like a presidio over the City for 42 years.
Saturday, the site, now known as “Memorial Grove” was dedicated by the Florence Historical Society to stand as a monument to the Soldiers who served there. Two historical markers were dedicated.
