Forrest Wendell (Red) Griggs – Obituary

Forrest Wendell (Red) Griggs of Waynesboro, TN was born March 28, 1941 in Sweetwater, TN, the son of the late Forrest Cole and Willodean Moore Griggs. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Dianne Robbins on March 20, 1965.

Mr. Griggs was owner and operator of Reds Truck Stop but had run a dry cleaning route for Harold’s Cleaners and had sold Electrolux vacuum cleaners or many years. He was a born again Christian of the Baptist faith. He grew up in Waynesboro and held a great affection to Sweetwater Branch where he was born.

Mr. Griggs departed this life on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee at the age of 71 Years, 4 Months, 10 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Dianne Robbins) Griggs; daughter, Robin Renee Griggs; a brother, Laverne Griggs, all of Waynesboro, TN; two granddaughters, Lindsey and Leanna Hammack; a grt-granddaughter, Cassidy Marie Irwin.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Griggs was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Dianne Griggs; a brother, Horace Cole Griggs.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the McGee Cemetery in Waynesboro, Tennessee with Laverne Griggs officiating. Burial will follow with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Virgil White, Mike Ray, Darrell West, John Davis, John Michael Irwin, and Fay (Red) Prater.
