Forrest Eugene (Gene) Marler was born June 7, 1938 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and passed away suddenly on April 16, 2018 in Florence, Alabama at the age of 79. Gene served his country in the US Navy, was also a retired civil servant from National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Gene and his wife, Jacquelyn (Jackie), were long time residents of Boulder, Colorado. They also lived in Arizona and Texas.
Gene is survived by his wife Jacquelyn Akins Marler, brother William (Joanne) of Boulder, CO, sister Elaine (Gene) McFarland of Van Nuys, CA; his sons David (Holly) of El Dora, IA and Stephen of Cranford, NJ; and two grandchildren. He had three step-daughters Mona (Rick) Pate of Haleyville, AL; Marsha (Rich) Hosner of Huntsville, AL and Margo (Cecil) Wells of Guntersville, AL who provided him with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
The family has lost a patriarch who was dedicated, diligent, hard-working, and intelligent. He will be sorely missed. There will be a private graveside service held at a later date.
