Former UA President Bailey still getting his half-a-million plus salary

Dr. Guy Bailey, steps down as President of The University of Alabama.

TUSCALOOSA – Guy Bailey, who stepped down from his post of University of Alabama President after being in office for only two months is still being paid his base salary of $535,000 per year. Bailey, a tenured English professor by trade, resigned from the Presidency because of medical issues surrounding his wife.

He is officially on leave through augus, and could return to the University as an English professor after his leave expires.

System chancellor Robert Witt told The Associated Press that Bailey would be a “tremendous asset” if he decides to move to the classroom, which was part of the reason he was given the paid leave
