Floyd “Red” Davis, 87, of Golden, Miss., died Friday, April 4, 2014, at Southern Magnolia Estates, Golden, Miss. He was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Itawamba County, Miss. and was a business owner. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, Red Bay, Ala. and served as usher for over 45 years and was a Gideon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a tour guide for Tiffin Motor Homes for ten years and a greeter for three years.

Services will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, at First Baptist Church, Red Bay, Ala., with Brother Jerry Ginn, Brother Bill Harper, Brother Larry Hill, and Glen Vinson officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery, Red Bay, Ala. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jo Davis, Golden, Miss.; two daughters, Sheree Humphries, Madison, Ala., and Sandi Johnston, Golden, Miss.; four grandchildren, Heather Humphries (fiance, Ryan Richardson), Zack Humphries (Melinda), Jodi Reed (Pat Jr.), and Jake Johnston; five great-grandchildren, Tucker Thorn, Skylar Reed, Brylee Grace Reed, Brodie Humphries, and Baby Humphries; three sisters, Lena Guntharp, Golden, Miss., Hazel Thomas (Owen), Tupelo, Miss., and Jean Hardin (Bob), Red Bay, Ala.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Garvin Davis and Lida Singleton Davis; two sons-in-law, David Johnston and Ricky Humphries; two sisters, Lucille Ford and Pauline Johnson; and brothers, Doyle Davis, and two infant brothers.

Pallbearers will be Zack Humphries, Jake Johnston, Tucker Thorn, Floyd Paden, Pat Reed Jr., and Ryan Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church, Gideons, Herbert Cooper, the Rev. W.D. Humphres, and Tiffin Motor Home family.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at First Baptist Church, Red Bay, Ala.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideon Bible Donation.
