Floyd Rayburn “Shorty” Hankins – Obituary

Floyd Rayburn “Shorty” Hankins, 80 of Arab died Monday, June 12, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Hankins, a life time resident of Arab was born June 23, 1936 in Marshall County to Harris Odell and Bertha Matthews Hankins. He and the former Bonnie Ann McGill were married 55 years. He was a heavy equipment operator, and had retired from the pup wood business. In his younger days he enjoyed playing baseball and always played short stop. He also enjoyed going to actions and flea markets.

He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Ann Hankins; a daughter: Bonnie Faye Stone; a brother: Buddy Hankins; one sister: Gussie Winters; a host of nieces, nephews; preceded in death by a grandson: William Bradley Stone, his parents: Harris Odell and Bertha Matthews Hankins, a brother: Curtis “Pig” Hankins and a sister: Ruth Garrett.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, brother Shane Wheeler, officiating. Burial will be in Oleander Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Hankins, Jimmy Hankins, Larry Hankins, Harvey Hankins, David Warren and Terry Bonds.
