Floyd Glenn Whitsett, 84, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at home with his loving wife of 64 years, Sylvia Tate Whitsett.

Floyd, a longtime farmer and ICP employee, graduated from Cornersville High School where he was known as an outstanding football and basketball player. He also served in the US Army during the Vietnam War Era.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia Tate Whitsett; son Christopher; granddaughters Bo and Rosalind; brother Thomas; first cousin Marion; and a host of nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and friends.

Known for being hard working, loyal, and generous, Floyd enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, watching sports, and reading the newspapers. He enjoyed his daily breakfast of bacon and eggs and would not turn down an offer of fried shrimp, catfish, or his daughter-in-law, Daphne’s, chocolate pie. Later in life, Floyd tirelessly cared for his wife’s medical needs. He also became a talented cornbread chef.

Family and friends can pay respects during visitation at Cornersville Funeral Home, 310 North Main St., Cornersville, TN, on

Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. A graveside service at Mars Hill Cemetery will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Taylor Young of Gallatin First Presbyterian Church officiating.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Whitsett, Mike Tankersley, Darren Hopkins, Keith Hopkins, Steven Hopkins, Bob Johnson, and Bryan Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mars Hill Cemetery for ongoing upkeep.

Cornersville Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
