Flossie Mae Smith, 90 of Athens, Alabama, died Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born December 9, 1932 in Limestone County, she was a member of Eastside Church of Christ for 70 years. “Mrs. Flossie” devoted 50 years to Athens Bible School as a Cafeteria manager and Athletic Gatekeeper. A faithful Christian, supported by husband William and daughters, Delores (’74) and Denise (’78), she was loved and respected by all. Mrs. Smith was married to William Smith for 40 years, she was an avid supporter of her Grandkids and Great Grandkids sporting events.
Services will be 10am Saturday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Steve Klein, Sewell Hall and Dustin Hall officiating with burial in Dement Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday 5pm until 8pm at Spry Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Sanderson, Brad Murrell and Craig Calvert, Kenneth Simmons, Jonathan Winland, Jeff Shaver, Scott Abernathy and Norm Chastain. Honorary Pallbearers are Great Grandson, Hudson Hall, Maddox Hall, Sawyer, Graham Hall and Crawford Hall. Survivors: Daughter, Melanie Denice Hall and husband Billy of Athens. Brother, Bonnie Ray Brooks and wife Joyce of Athens. Grandsons, Andrew Hall and wife Emily of Columbiana and Dustin Hall and wife Jennifer of Athens. Great Grandchildren, Crawford Hall, Hudson Hall, Maddox Hall, Sawyer Hall, Hazel Hall, Piper Hall, Annie Kate Hall, Graham Hall and Sylvie Hall. Several Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by: Parents, Charlie and Ilean Brooks. Husband, William Smith. Daughter, Delores Hambrick. Great Grandchildren, Harper Hall, Baby Hall and Carl Hall.
Memorials may be made to Athens Bible School.
