Flossie Mae Nelson Burns, age 90, passed away on Dec. 26, 2015, at River City Center. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29th at 3:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jackie Kay and Brother Ken Bush officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1925 to William B. Nelson and Hattie Mae Nelson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jewel Burns; and beloved daughter, Regina Mae Pounders; and two brothers, Harrison Nelson and J.W. (Shorty) Nelson.
She is survived by her son, J. Ralph Burns and wife, Susie, of Decatur; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth McCay and Annie Lou NeSmith; and two brothers, Jack and Tommy Nelson and a multitude of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Mrs. Flossie loved her family and her church. Most importantly she loved her Lord, sharing His love through the years with the home bound in visits, cards, and phone calls.
Memorials may be made to Central Park Baptist Church.
