florineFlorine K. Rasch, 96, of Auburn, AL, formerly of Florence, passed away July 20, 2015 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL. She was a member of the Redeemer Presbyterian Church of Florence, Treasurer of the Salvation Army of Florence, Historical Society Board, Friends of the Library, began her career in Florence as a Chemist with TVA and then taught at the University of North Alabama for thirty-five years and retired as the head of the Home Economics Department; she also served on numerous other Civic Boards and Committees.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Graveside services will be private with the Rev. Sam Hardie, III officiating.

Mrs. Rasch was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rasch; parents, one sister and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Lyle of Auburn, AL son, Charles Rasch , Jr. (Teresa) of Florence; sister, Lucille Spencer of Gilmer, TX,; brother, James Knotts of Flomenton, AL; sister, Vermey Green of Russellville, AL; grandchildren, Win Lyle (Catherine) of Auburn, AL, Natalie Dickerson (Doug) of Auburn, AL, Allison Sanda (Mark) of Birmingham, Ashley Anderson (Louis) of Birmingham, Andrew Rasch of Auburn, AL; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the entire nursing staff of the 7th floor at East Alabama Medical Center for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army of Florence.
