FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department has issued a statement regarding an arrest made on Tuesday, November 15 . The arrest is in regards to drugs and an attempt to flee by the suspect:
“Late yesterday officers with the Florence Police Department attempted to stop a small truck for traffic violations along Helton Drive. The driver, Demarcus Robinson, refused to yield and led officers on a pursuit through the Florence Industrial Park area. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit on Chisholm Road near Co Rd 7. Lauderdale Sheriff’s deputies also assisted in the pursuit and recovery of a large quantity of methamphetamine that the driver tossed from the vehicle during the pursuit. Robinson is charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Improper Lane Usage, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with the intent to distribute, Carrying a pistol without a permit, and attempting to elude. He is currently being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on bond totaling $12,500.”
