FLORENCE-The City of Florence and Lauderdale County announce the annual Veterans Day program. The Ceremony
will be held at the Florence – Lauderdale County Veterans Memorial Park at 301 Veterans Park Drive, north
of Wilson Dam. (In the event of rain, the Ceremony will be held at Cross Point Church of Christ.)
The purpose of the Veterans Day Ceremony is to honor all American Veterans, especially those from
Lauderdale County, for their service in defense of our freedom and honors to our nation. Our country owes
a debt of gratitude to those who served and to those who are currently serving. Our appreciation should be
expressed often, especially on Veterans Day.
This ceremony will serve as Florence’s first official America 250 event, a national and state initiative that
marks the upcoming 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America with the theme, “One
Nation, Many Stories.” We will be honoring local veterans and preserving their legacy through a group
photo series by era of service for inclusion in the Veterans Memorial Museum archives. All veterans and
community members are invited to attend. A small token of appreciation will also be provided to every
veteran.
