FLORENCE – What began as a scary situation for a Florence mother was brought to a happy ending Friday afternoon. Police found her children in Muscle Shoals and returned them to her. The person who allegedly took them has been taken into custody for a mental evaluation.
Here is what the Florence Police Department had to say from their facebook page:
“At 1pm this afternoon Florence Police responded to a 911 Call regarding missing children. 2 juveniles (ages 8 months and 2 years) were reportedly taken by Katlyn Robertson, 34, of Florence, against their mothers will. Officers were immediately dispatched to the area to attempt to locate the missing children and a bolo was issued for Ms. Robertson and the vehicle she was driving. Shortly before 4:30 pm Muscle Shoals Police responded to a suspicious person call and located Ms. Robertson and the missing children, along with a third small child who belonged to Ms. Robertson. We are happy to report that the children have been returned to their parents without injury and Ms. Robertson is undergoing a medical evaluation at a local hospital. This department would like to thank this community for your assistance in this case and the Muscle Shoals Police Department for their quick response and recovery of the children. This community worked together, and three small children are safe and sound because of YOU! Thank you Shoals!”
