Suspect Allegedly Stole Purse From House Of Worship

FLORENCE-On Sunday, February 11, 2024, Florence Police responded to a report of a stolen purse at a local house
of worship. The victim had cash, debit cards, and a phone stolen.

After the theft, the offender used the victim’s debit card at multiple local businesses. Detectives were able to identify Eva Hooper, 36, of Florence, as a person of interest.

Officers located Hooper, and she was interviewed about the incident.
Hooper was arrested and transported to the Lauderdale County Detention Center. She was charged
with Theft of property 2 nd , Identity Theft, and four counts of Illegal possession or fraudulent use of
credit card or debit card. She remains in custody with a $34,000 bond.

Eva Hooper is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
