FLORENCE-On September 30, 2025, Florence Police Department officers responded to the 700 block of Mars Hill Road regarding reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers located blood droplets but were unable to locate anyone involved at the scene.
Shortly after, officers were notified that a gunshot victim had arrived at North Alabama Medical Center (NAMC). Officers
Javonte Zackery
who were not on scene responded to the hospital to make contact with the victim.
Several hours later, while officers continued to collect evidence at the original scene, the suspected offender returned to the location and surrendered to law enforcement.
Javonte Zackery, 26, of Florence, AL was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree. He is confined at the Lauderdale County Detention Center and has a $30,000 bond.
Javonte Zackery is innocent until proven guilty.
