FLORENCE-On May 28, 2025, at approximately 8:50am Florence Police Officers responded to the 500 block of Larimore Street in regards to a burglary in progress. The suspect broke into the residence and pointed a gun at the occupant.
The suspect fled the scene upon FPD Officer’s arrival. Officers on scene interviewed the victim which led officers to identify

the suspect as Cory Gilchrist, 36, of Florence, AL. Gilchrist also had active warrants for his arrest from the Florence Police Department. Officers were unable to locate the suspect after searching the surrounding areas.
At around 1:30pm on the same date, FPD Officers were advised that Gilchrist was near the intersection of Washington Street and Mobile Street. We responded and quickly took Gilchrist into custody without any incident despite him being armed with a pistol.
Gilchrist was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center for Burglary 1st Degree and Domestic Violence 3rd – Menacing. Gilchrist is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center without a bond pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
