Florence PD Makes Arrest In String Of Downtown Burglaries

FLORENCE-Starting in mid-April 2024, Florence Police noticed an increase in property crimes in the downtown area of
Florence. The crimes reported included burglary, burglary of automobiles, automobile theft, and theft of
property.

Detectives working the cases identified Timothy Martin Simon as a suspect in many of these cases. On
May 31st, 2024, a search warrant was executed on a storage space used by Simon. Detectives recovered evidence
that connected Simon to the thefts, and arrest warrants were obtained.

Timothy was arrested and is currently confined in the Lauderdale County Detention Center with the following charges:

Burglary in the Third Degree, four counts of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, three counts of Theft of Property in the First Degree, two counts of Theft of Property in the Second Degree, Theft of Property in the Third Degree, five counts of Theft of Property in the Fourth Degree, and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. He has a bond of $153,500.00.

Timothy Simon is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
