FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department released a statement concerning the arrest of one suspect who has been charged with Assault 2nd Degree:
“On June 20, 2021, at approximately 12:30 AM, officers responded to a report of an assault that occurred in the 100 block of Sycamore Street in Florence. When officers arrived, they located a forty-six-year-old male that was assaulted with a baseball bat. He had a large laceration to his head and multiple other injuries. The victim was transported to North Alabama Medical Center for treatment.
A short time later, officers located the offender during a traffic stop. Kerry Douglas Smith was arrested and charged with assault 2nd. Smith was transported to the Lauderdale County Detention Center and was released with a $2,500 bond.”
