LAUDERDALE COUNTY-The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect who has been charged with murder of his wife:
“On 3/12/24, at around 8: a.m., deputies responded to the 4000 block of County Road 10, north of the Cloverdale community on a
William Cornelius Chapin, II
welfare check.
Once on the scene deputies located a deceased female inside a residence. The female had died of an apparent gunshot wound.
During the investigation probable cause was established to charge William Cornelius Chapin II, 63 of Florence with Murder. Mr. Chapin is currently at the Lauderdale County Detention Center with no bond.
The victim is identified as Debra Annette Chapin, 59 of Florence.
