Flora Mae Neill Hopper – Obituary

Flora Mae Neill Hopper, age 90, of Huntsville, Ala. passed away Oct. 10, 2012.

Mrs. Hopper was born Oct 2, 1922, in Huntsville and was a long-time resident of Florence, Ala. She graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1942 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Birmingham-Southern College. She was a Latin teacher for many years and a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Hopper was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Hopper. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James Neill and Rena Neill; and one brother, Tommy Neill.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Becky) Hopper, of Hoover and Gary (Donna) Hopper, of Meridianville. She is also survived by six grandchildren, James (Stephanie) Hopper, of Birmingham, Jason (Jamie) Hopper, of Birmingham, Wes Hopper, of Huntsville and Whitney (Jon Michael) Williams, of Huntsville; and six great-grandchildren, Jake Hopper, Cody Hopper, Will Hopper, Hayes Hopper, Rebecca Hopper and Luke Williams. She is survived by three sisters, Francis Love, of Birmingham, Ala., Doris Mozley, of Richmond, Va. and Betty Ann Ham, of Hayden, Ala.

The family will receive visitors at Jones Chapel Church of Christ in Logan, Ala. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10am. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at Jones Chapel Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Heritage Christian University.
