Flora Lee Robbins Sanders, 73, died Thursday, June 30, 2016 at North Miss. Medical Center Hospice after an extended illness. Flora was born on October 9, 1942 in the Auburn Community of Lee County to the late Hausie Dearum Robbins and Martha Jane Harris Robbins. She graduated from Saltillo High School in l960 as Class Valedictorian and graduated with a degree in Education from Mississippi State University in l964. She married her sweetheart, John L. Sanders, on Feb. 6, 1965, a partnership of 51 years. Flora worked for over 38 years as a loyal and valued employee at Rockwell/Delta International retiring as Director of Human Resources. A longtime member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, she was a quiet and gentle soul whose life revolved around her family especially watching her grandchildren play sports. Her hobbies included gardening, bird feeding, her Friday night supper club and spending every second possible with her best friend and husband, John. Flora was an amazing lady whose zeal for life and devotion to helping others will remain legendary. Her legacy will be that of a selfless servant who loved God, her family, and her neighbors.
A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Truman Thompson and Rev. Tim Green officiating. Private burial will follow in Springhill Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Saltillo. Visitation will be 4 PM-7PM today (Friday) and from 9:30-service time Saturday all at the Tupelo chapel of Holland Funeral Directors, which is honored to be serving the family.
Survivors include her husband, John Sanders of Saltillo; son, Michael Keith Sanders (Paige) of Belden; three grandchildren, Reed, South and David Sanders. Three brothers, Rush Robbins, Delbert Robbins (Shirley), and James ‘Bud” Robbins (Debbie), her sister, Alice Williams (Buddy), a brother in law, Charles Riley all of the Tupelo area; a host of nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and special friends, Mitch and Christy Weir. She was preceded in death by her parents, H.D. and Martha Robbins, three sisters, Mary Riley, Virginia Buse and Lola Mae Robbins.
Pallbearers will be Keith, Reed, South and Tyrone Sanders, Kevin Robbins and Anthony Buse. Honorary pallbearers will be the retired associates of Rockwell/Delta International.
