Mrs. Flo Pittman Underwood Stockton passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at home.
She was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama and was a graduate of Deshler High School. She attended Montevallo College for Women, received her degree from Florence State Teachers College, and moved to Huntsville to teach at East Clinton Elementary School.
With a vivid imagination, dramatic curiosity, and an unparalleled devotion to learning, she lived an extraordinary life. She was a founder of Randolph School, an original member of The Book Club, a National Flower Show judge, and, with 62 years of continuous membership, the oldest Huntsville Country Club member still playing the links.
She is survived by her sons, Benton Argile Stockton III (Vicki) and Carter Powell Stockton Sr. (Sally); grandsons, Carter Powell Stockton Jr. and Jackson Benton Argile Stockton; cousin, Lou Underwood Robbins, of Florence; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benton Argile “Sonny” Stockton Jr., and infant son, Randall Key.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at The Church of the Nativity, Episcopal. There will be a private family service with the Reverend Andy Anderson officiating. (www.laughlinservice.com)
