ROGERSVILLE-What better way to kick off the New Year than by getting a jump start burning off those extra holiday calories in the great outdoors?
First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s State Parks to encourage people to get outdoors. On New Year’s Day, hundreds of free, guided hikes will be organized in all 50 states. Kids and adults all across America will be participating in First Day Hikes, getting their hearts pumping and enjoying the beauty of a state park.
Walking in a Winter Wonderland First Day Hike will be held at Joe Wheeler State Park on January 1, 2024 from 9 am- 11 am.
Meet in the Lodge Lobby for coffee and orientation before the hike.
Join Park Naturalist, Jennings Earnest, for an interpretive First Day Hike along the Champion Trail (1 mile) to start the year with fresh air, friendship, and the natural beauty of a winter wonderland. Dogs are welcome, but they must keep their humans on a 6’ or shorter leash. This will be the first hike of a series of 24 Hikes in 2024. (Watch for more!)
No fee but donations to Joe Wheeler State Park are always appreciated.
