FLORENCE-The College Fair Committee of the Northwest Shoals
Alabama Area, in partnership with the Florence, Alabama City Council President, District 1 and
Florence City School Board Vice President, District 1 are excited to present the First Annual
College Prep/HBCU College Fair, a unique opportunity for high school students to connect
with representatives from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
This landmark event, open to ALL High School students and their families, will offer invaluable
resources to help students prepare for their college journey while celebrating the rich history and
opportunities of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). To be held February 22, 2025 at Harvest Mitchell Gymnasium located at 610 West College Street in Florence.
The event will feature:
• Valuable insight on college applications, financial aid, and scholarships.
• A Panel Discussion with HBCU alumni and current students sharing personal experiences
and answering questions.
• A dynamic College Fair where students can meet admissions representatives and alumni
chapter representatives from various HBCUs, gain insights into academic programs, and
potentially receive application fee waivers, scholarships, or on-the-spot admissions.
“By connecting students with HBCU representatives and providing hands-on guidance, this
event aims to inspire the next generation of leaders and ensure students are equipped to achieve
their educational goals,” said Andrea Gordon.
