SHEFFIELD– Firekid returns to the stage with a concert at the historic Ritz Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will promote their new album, Muscle Shoals Metaphysical. Tickets are $15-$25 and are available now at tennesseevalleyarts.org.
Firekid, which began as a solo project of Shoals musician Dillon Hodges, is now a duo that includes accomplished musician Heidi Feek. The combination has resulted in an expansion of the band’s genre-blending take on Americana.
In a review of the new album, Ray Finlayson of Beats Per Minute says that Hodges’ “bluegrass roots matched with Feek’s folk background work seamlessly, even when they start infusing elements of electronica, pop, and hip hop.”
It’s a fusion of sounds that Hodges and Feek are excited to share, with Muscle Shoals
Metaphysical being the band’s first album in six years. “We’re really proud of this new record,” said Hodges, “and I think fans will see it was worth the wait for our eclectic blend of roots music.”
The concert at The Ritz marks firekid’s first live stage show in two years, and it’s a meaningful homecoming for the band. “I was beginning to think we might never get to play shows again, but when the opportunity came along to play a local show at The Ritz, we couldn’t say no,” said Hodges. “It’s the perfect size venue for an intimate experience with this album.”
