DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department released a statement concerning a theft that took place on July 5, 2016.

“On July 5th, 2016, a resident of the City of Decatur filed a theft report with the Decatur Police Department. The resident reported that several items were stolen from their residence, the value of which exceeded $2,500.00. Det. Jackson with the Property Crimes Unit was assigned the case. Through the investigation, Det. Jackson developed Kimber Nicole Kirby as a suspect, and obtained a warrant for her arrest for Theft of Property in the First Degree.
On August 2nd, 2016, Oregon State Police located Kirby outside of Portland. She was extradited back to the Morgan County Jail for the warrant. On August 12th, 2016, Kirby was transported to the Decatur Police Department, where the warrant was served. Kirby’s bond was set at $5,000.00, and she was transferred back to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of the $5,000.00 bond.
According to the Criminal Code of Alabama, theft of property which exceeds two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) in value, or property of any value taken from the person of another, constitutes theft of property in the first degree. Theft of property in the first degree is a Class B felony.”
