Fayette (Fay) Franklin Dawson – Obituary

Fayette (Fay) Franklin Dawson, 86, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 6, 2015.

Graduating from Tishomingo High School in 1949, Fay proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Reynolds Aluminum after 25 years, and was a member of Elgin Missionary Baptist Church.

He was born July 17, 1929 in Tishomingo, Mississippi to Frank and Carrie Dawson, and preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ava Hill; and two brothers, Chester and Ray Dawson.

Fay is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilla Walker Dawson; two children, Terry Dawson (Nellie) and Tasha Easterling (Shan); five grandchildren, Mandy Abernathy (Blake), Brandon Dawson (Lara), Carys, Alden and Levi Easterling; and one great-grandchild, Riley Dawson.

He enjoyed studying his Bible and bird watching.

Pallbearers will be Blake Abernathy, Brandon Dawson, Kim Dawson, Jody Dawson, Shan Easterling and Lyman Hill Jr.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Elkins East Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Elgin Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Tommy Smith and Brother David McKelvey officiating. A graveside service will follow in Tishomingo Cemetery with Brother Rod Stansky officiating.
