Fay “Darling” Hurd Francis, 92, of Cherokee, AL, died Monday, October 23, 2017, at Florence Nursing and Rehab in Florence, AL after a short illness. Fay was a legend in her own right. She worked for the state of Alabama at the Colbert County Circuit Clerk’s office for many years. She was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, an avid animal lover, and a remarkable story teller. She was a fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team and of the Big Band Era music. She was known for her red lipstick. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 25, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Visitation will continue Thursday until the time of service. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 26, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Jimmy Hayes and Bro. Sammy Hayes. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Frances Cross Newland; her grandchildren, McKinley Duane Cross (Jeannie), and Kala Lee Cross; her great grandchildren, Kendrick Blade Cross and Kyzer Lee Cross; and her special friends, Joe and Charlotte Hayes, Tommy Deaton and family, Shannon Harrell, Joyce, Walker, and many others.
