Faith N. Shippey – Obituary

faithFaith N. Shippey, 84, passed away peacefully in Birmingham.
Born in Nauvoo, AL, she lived in Huntsville over 50 years, until the last five months. Her life was full, with many roles and talents – daughter, wife, mother, homemaker, award-winning flower arranger, seamstress, and cook extraordinaire. She taught Sunday school, volunteered at Huntsville First UMC and the Huntsville High School Infirmary, was a Brownie troop Leader, a Den Mother, and a Gray Lady at Huntsville Hospital. She loved to travel across this country and overseas, but going to the beach in Gulf Shores was one of her greatest joys.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Delilah Nichols, and her beloved husband of 54 years, W. L. Shippey. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Bob) Rentschler of Birmingham, Roger (Barbara) Shippey of Huntsville, and Lisa (Mike) Martin of Matthews, NC; and grandchildren, Erika (Jason) Harvell, Britt Rentschler, Nicole (Joey) Savago, Brianna Martin, and Ian Shippey.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Martin’s in the Pines – Cottages – in Birmingham or Huntsville First United Methodist Church.
