FAA Statement on UPS Flight 1354

PLANE CRASHBIRMINGHAM-UPS Flight 1354, an A300 cargo plane enroute from Louisville, KY to Birmingham, AL, crashed UPS AIR CARGO PLANEapproximately 1/2 mile north of Runway 18 on approach to Birmingham Shuttlesworth Intl. Airport at about 6 a.m. EDT.

This information is preliminary and will be updated when new information is available.

Local authorities will release information about the conditions of the flight crew.

The NTSB is in charge of the investigation and will determine probable cause.

Breaking News:  It has been confirmed by Mayor William Bell that the two pilots on UPS Flight 1354 have perished in the crash.  Firefighters discovered the bodies as they were fighting the fire.  The two have not been identified.
