Funeral services for Ezell Collum, Cherokee, Alabama, will be at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee on Friday, May 12, 2017 with Rev. George Henley and Rev. Scott Penny officiating. The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. He will be buried in Mt. Springs Cemetery.
Ezell was born on May 6, 1926 in Cherokee to Edward and Sally Narmore Collum. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He lived in the Mountain Springs community for more than 50 years. Ezell was a member and deacon at Mtn. Springs Baptist Church. He retired from Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. after 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lillie Collum Thompson, and brothers Birdie, Homer, J.W., and Hollis Collum.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Birdie Daily Collum, with whom he would have celebrated 73 years of marriage in August. He is also survived by his children Larry Collum (Lela) and Joyce Collum Tucker (Randy); grandchildren Tina Collum Dorroh (Jamie), Jeff Hodge (Sonya), Lance Collum (Kelly), and Jacqueline Hodge Howard (Shane). He also leaves behind nine loving great-grandchildren. He was the happiest when surrounded by his family and we look forward to being reunited with him.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Hodge, Lance Collum, Jamie Dorroh, Shane Howard, Drew Hodge, Ben Hodge, Houston Howard, David Alfaro, and Jamey Hunt. Texas Eastern employees will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Springs Cemetery Fund.
