Mrs. Exzine E. Ledbetter was born February 22, 1953, in Lawrence County Alabama to the late Odessa Mae Cal and Mr. William T. Cal, Sr. She silently departed this earthly life on November 14, 2023, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Bethel Colbert Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton, Alabama.
Exzine was a beautiful well-loved person and to many she was their favorite auntie. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend with a heart of gold. Exzine graduated from Hazlewood High School in 1971. She went on to become a devoted wife and mom to four children. Exzine worked at Joe Wheeler Lodge, alongside her beloved sister Carolyn King, as chefs for 15 years. She later became supervisor at Hampton Inn & Suites in Florence for 10 years before retiring. She pursued a career in Mental Health, working for D&M group home as a House manager, and a Direct Support Professional until her death. Exzine was very excited becoming a Licensed Alabama State Notary on August 31, 2023. She was a very devoted church member that loved smiling, talking, and planning different events for the church. Exzine was a devoted Sunday school & Bible Class attendee, usher, loved being part of the prayer & outreach ministry distributing fruit baskets & get-well cards to members, Exzine definitely loved & protected her Pastor Wesley Thompson & First Lady LeTanndra Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mrs. Annie Louise Carpenter, Mary Alice Almon, and Carolyn King, one brother, William T. Cal, Jr. and a dear friend, Mrs. Ludie Mae Abernathy.
She leaves to cherish memories:
her husband, Richard Ledbetter of Muscle Shoals, AL; one loving devoted daughter, Freda Jones-Calloway (Victor) of Town Creek, AL; three devoted sons, Matt L Jones (Laneta) of Decatur, AL, Kerry O. Jones of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Brandal Jones (Tina) of Courtland, AL; one special godson; Douglas Fuqua of Muscle Shoals, AL; twelve beautiful loving grandchildren, Keginald (Jas), Zena (Jeremy), Tj (Catera), Darrele, DeAngelo, Jasmine, Amyia, Brandise, Branae, Braylah, Braydon and Navy; Seventeen great-grandchildren, one devoted beautiful sister, Ernestine Holiday of Leighton, AL; two brothers, Percy Cal (Angela) of Leighton. AL and Jimmy Cal (Mildred) of Montgomery, AL; one brother-in-law; Willie Nathaniel Almon of Town Creek, AL; a friend/sister, Tanya Underwood-Young of Muscle Shoals, AL; two precious goddaughters, Megan Bates of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Candice Finley of Corinth Mississippi; devoted godsons; Detaj Abernathy of Muscle Shoals, AL and Timothy Ingram of Huntsville, AL; a devoted cousin, Rhonda Jackson of Chattanooga, TN; devoted friends, Annie Stevenson, Delois McDonald, Teresa McDonald, Retricia Thompson and the entire Bethel Colbert Church Family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many more relatives, and friends.
