Everett Fleming – Obituary

Everett Fleming, age 93, Russellville, Ala., passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012. He left behind his loving wife of 70 years, Dorris Gantt Fleming. He never left the dinner table without saying “thank you Mrs. Fleming, that sure was good!” He and his wife worked alongside each other in the restaurant business for 31 years. In retirement, he enjoyed raising cattle and tending to the farm. He served as Technical Sergeant in WWII with the 177 Ordnance Depot Company. He was a member of the DAV, VFW and American Legion. He served on the board of Farmers Home, Franklin County Cattle Association and Northwest Alabama Stockyard.
The visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville, prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service in the funeral home chapel with Brother A.H. Akins officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Harold D. Fleming, Wayne Hester, Bernard Hester, Alton Hester, Wayne Allen, Greg Allen and Doug Allen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Magnolia Fleming; brothers, Claude, Roy, Albert and Lance Fleming; sisters, Viola Richardson, Maggie Murrell, Aggie Hester and Russell Ely.

He is survived by his wife, Dorris Gantt Fleming; sister, Lois Griffith; sisters-in-law, Mary Hudson, Nora Allen and Josephine Willmarth and husband, Richard; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to all who were so kind and caring at Terrace Manor Nursing Home, special nephews and friends that stood by us so faithfully.
