Even the smaller fishing tournaments are great fun

SHEFFIELD – It was a great day on Pickwick Lake Saturday as Summer gave way to Fall. It was the day The Cedar City Bass Anglers, from Lebanon, Tennessee, held their annual Classic Tournament in The Shoals this weekend.   Eighteen members of the Club came to Colbert County to fish out of Riverfront Park with a practice day on Thursday, September 20.  The actual tournament  was a two-day event with Weigh-Ins on Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22.

Susann Hamlin, Director of Colbert County Tourism, said that this small event is only one example of the large number of anglers who take advantage of our beautiful part of the country. She emphasized that while the big-name events are a great boost to the economy of our area, there are a large number of smaller fishing groups that come here year round. And they book hotel rooms, eat in our restaurants, visit area attractions and then go home and tell their friends to come and check out The Shoals. The Club members stayed in Colbert County hotels for three nights, primarily the picturesque Key West Inn in Tuscumbia.

Clubs interested in visiting The Shoals for some of the best fishing in America, can call Susann at (800) 344-0783.
