Evelyn Virginia Johns Joslin Borden age 89, passed away May 7, 2022 in Jackson at the home of her friend’s, Don and Becky King.
She was born January 20, 1933 in Newbern, TN the daughter of the late Arter Edward and Effie Collins Johns. She was born and raised in Newbern/Dyersburg area. She was married to Wayne Edward Joslin and later Gerald Franklin Borden.
She worked for the First Citizens National Bank in Dyersburg for forty-six years, starting out as a file clerk and ended up as Vice President, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN; She loved to garden, raising fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Mrs. Borden is survived by stepson, Brian Moore Borden (Stephanie) of Atlanta, GA and stepdaughter, Lisa Borden Sippel (Tom) of Atlanta, GA ; step grandchildren, Mary Larkin Sippel, Ellen Delaplain Sippel and William Moore Borden; her adopted friends, Don and Becky King of Jackson; and cousin, Bill Reed, Jr. (Karen) and children, Morgan and Becca.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Wayne Edward Joslin and Gerald Franklin Borden; two brothers, Dr. Homer Edward Johns and James Robert Johns and two nephews, Robert Edward Johns and Charles Lynn Johns.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Wednesday, May 11th at First United Methodist Church in Jackson with Rev. Dr. David Weatherly and Rev. Skye McCracken officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Dyersburg, TN.
The family will receive friends 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM Wednesday at the church.
