Funeral Services for Mrs. Evelyn Posey Weldon, age 83 of Ashland, will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 6:00 P.M. with Rev. David Davis and Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Her visitation will take place from 4:00 P.M. until service time at 6:00 P.M.
Mrs. Weldon passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Lineville Health and Rehab. She was born in Bessemer and lived there until the age of 18, and has lived in Clay County ever since. She worked different jobs throughout her life, between babysitting, Southland, Higgins, and Russell Mills all while raising her seven wonderful children. Her last job was in the Home Health field helping the elderly in their homes, providing meals, general care and support. Mrs. Weldon loved her family dearly, but was faithful to her church. She was involved in Calvary Pentecostal Church and was a member of Faith Christian Fellowship. Mrs. Weldon enjoyed reading her Bible, going to church and attended Church singings and gatherings whenever she could. She also enjoyed planting flowers, gardening and was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and sister.
Mrs. Weldon is survived by her children: Johnny Love (Kathy) of Alexander City, Yvonne Love, Michael Love, Dawn Hallman (Doug), and Darlene Weldon, all of Ashland; 12 grandchildren: Jason Love (Carla), Jeremy Love (Summer), Brandi Love, Jed Love, Justin Sanders (Baylee), Brooke James (Cole), Adrian Wilkinson, Kyle Hallman (Montana), Kane Wilkinson (Aliza), Payton Hallman (Kylie), Faith Love, and Kacie Love; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Posey; one brother, Huey Posey (Juanita), all of Bessemer, plus a large extended family and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Bud and Elsie Posey; her husband, Willie Earl Weldon; son, Phillip Love; infant daughter, Sheila Love; grandson, Joshua Love; and two brothers: James and Ray Posey.
Her grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
