Evelyn June Thomas Sledge age 87 of New Market, AL passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Crestwood Medical Center. Mrs. Sledge was born June 23, 1930 in Pettusville, AL to Verbon Mitchell Thomas and Willie Ila Andrews Thomas.
Services will be Thursday, December 21, 2017 11:00 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Randy Pyle officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mrs. Sledge was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She loved Christmas movies, liked watching high school marching bands at football games and anything her grandchildren was actively involved in.
Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vernon Thomas and Clinton Thomas; one sister, Mary Lee Putman; one daughter, Deborah Lambert; three grandsons, James Michael Sloan, Bruce Keven Sloan and Brian Keith Sloan.
Survived by her husband of 63 years, Dillard Sledge of New Market, AL; two daughters, Sandra McLemore and husband, Tom of Albertville, AL and Sonya Mitchell and husband, Paul of Hazel Green, AL; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Britt.
Pallbearers will be Ashley Harrell, Terry Fulwider, Chris Whaley, Turner McLemore, Dustin Sharp and Paul Mitchell II. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas McLemore and Paul Mitchell, Sr.
